Gavin Boneham

president

Gavin Boneham (President) has 24 years of experience fitting orthoK and loves that orthoK can slow myopia progression and therefore potentially save someone from vision loss in the future. He enjoys the company of the people who fit orthoK as they are all enthusiastic, passionate people. In his spare time, he likes reading a wide range of subjects from sports to philosophy. Gavin consults at Boneham Optometrist Eyecare Plus, George St, Sydney.



Alex Petty

Vice president

Alex is a therapeutic optometrist, contact lens specialist and orthokeratologist. He also has interests in myopia control and ocular disease management, including dry eye and glaucoma. 
Alex has lectured locally and internationally on contact lenses and ocular disease. He also writes a regular column on specialty contact lenses in NZ Optics and has published a number of articles and case reports in clinical optometry journals and education forums. In 2016 Alex was one of the first New Zealanders to become a fellow of the International Academy of Orthokeratology. He currently sits on the board of the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania and is the IAO (International Academy of Orthokeratology) Fellowship Chair for Oceania.
Alex has worked in New Zealand and Australia for several independent optometry practices with a strong focus on contact lenses. In January of 2017 Alex started his own medically-focused specialty optometry clinic, Bay Eye Care, which specialises in myopia control, specialty contact lenses including orthokeratology, and ocular disease management.



Celia Bloxsom

Secretary / Conference Manager

Celia Bloxsom has been fitting orthoK for 17 years and receives great delight from people's happy reactions at being able to see without glasses! In addition, as she gets to know her OK patients personally during the fitting process, she finds experiencing how orthoK has helped their lives a fantastic personal reward. She embraces "geek chic" - loving Star Wars and Chanel in equal measures! Celia consults at Eyeconic Optometry, Gold Coast, QLD.



Lee Pepper

Treasurer / Membership Administrator

Lee Pepper has been fitting orthoK for 8 years and gains satisfaction from being able to do something to prevent disease (myopia). He volunteers his time for the OSO because he believes it is the most passionate professional society he has ever encountered. He is playing football for UNSW for the first time this year, 31 years after graduating from that university. Lee consults at Vision Excellence, Castle Hill, NSW.  



Kathleen Watt

Education

Kathleen Watt has been fitting orthoK for 10 years. She enjoys getting to know the children and watching them grow. She is passionate about promoting orthoK and ensuring we have experienced, well-educated practitioners working in the field. Kathleen consults and teaches at UNSW Optometry Clinic, UNSW Sydney.   



Philip Cheng

Marketing Coordinator

Philip Cheng is an experienced optometrist and orthokeratology practitioner based in Australia. He is the director of The Myopia Clinic Melbourne, a purpose-equipped clinic providing comprehensive myopia care and treatments to children across Melbourne. As an advocate for improving the standard of care for myopic children, he provides support and mentorship in this area to optometrists and students. Philip has been an industry spokesperson for Myopia Awareness Week, a consultant for the BHVI Academy, a contributing writer for industry publications, and has presented at conferences and seminars on myopia management. As a -8.00D high myope, Philip is passionate about helping kids and teenagers avoid progressive myopia and the eye diseases associated with this eye condition.
